Hi Ho Silver Barnsley

Hi Ho Silver BarnsleyBecause he doesn’t live locally Ben Mosley isn’t a household name.

However, he is a lifelong reds fan since 1987 when his dad, from “ Cuddeth”, took him to see Hull City at Oakwell.  He remembers wearing the “zig zag” strip ala Lyons Cakes.  The first names he can remember were Steve Cooper, Agnew and David Currie from that game. He reminisces these times better than I can http://www.benmosleyart.com/571/ Ben was also mascot for the club in 1990 v Charlton Athletic , after completing a school project on Barnsley FC where he interviewed reds legend  Eric Winstanley.

He is known nationally as a fine artist and had his paintings hanging in the legends suite in the East Stand in 2007/2008. As someone who knows very little about Art I would describe his work as more Rothko than Constable and has a fleeting comparison to Church stained glass. Those descriptions are probably crazy in enthusiast’s eyes. I ask you to judge yourselves at http://benmosleyart.com  Whether you love or hate it, certainly it makes you think.

One of his paintings of the Super reds hangs at Wembley or Barnsley South as it is better known. Since it was painted we have not lost at Wembley. It is actually hanging in Club Wembley East, so if you are not in the England Prawn sandwich brigade, you may well have to wait till the Play off final again (hopefully not long). Ben has also produced two hand painted murals at Wembley which celebrate the history of the illustrious stadium.

Amongst his clients are The P.F.A , McDonalds and The League Managers Association and he has raised close to £400,000 for charities such as Marie Curie.  His TV work includes Look North, MTV and ITV Text Santa where he painted live on television.

One of his specialities is he paints without sketching first and paints “ live” at events such as football matches.

It is hoped that the Supporters Trust can work closely with Ben in the near future on several projects which are nearing fruition.
