Uncle P + Far Away Relatives
We always think that a fan’s allegiance with a team emanates from their father’s own choice.
However, 10 years ago Kjell’s wife bought her husband a Barnsley Football Club T-shirt for his 50th birthday and he has since “followed” us from afar.
Fast forward 10 years and 11 of his friends decide to give him a surprise 60th Birthday treat.
The time is 6.15am on Friday morning and with his wife in on the secret, he is whisked away to what he thinks is a weekend Moose hunting.
Six hours later he is in Manchester on his way to weekend at “Costa Oakwell”
The class of 12 (one a doctor and another an Irish resident and honorary Norwegian) are now loyal Barnsley Fans
On their return they are to form a Norwegian Barnsley FC supporters branch.
The unbelievable hospitality they have received in Barnsley, at Oakwell, the No 7, Redfearn’s bar and the folk of Barnsley have forged a friendship for life. ( I think that lager at £3 per pint and not £10 in Norway may have helped)
Our Norwegian friends were particularly impressed with our local @AcornBrewery beers!
The Redfearn’s Bar team donated a Redfearn’s No8 Bar T-Shirt to the birthday boy.
We look forward to their return at a future date.
