Wembley Tickets and Centenary Society Priority

The Trust contacted Barnsley Football Club to understand why Centenary members were not being given priority for Wembley Tickets when this was a stated benefit of membership. We received the following reply:

“Despite our best efforts to get this resolved, I’m afraid we haven’t been able to find an immediate solution to incorporate our Centenary Society database into the Ticketmaster system which would allow members to have priority access to tickets for the JPT final. As you may be aware, our Centenary Society database is held internally at Oakwell (and not with Ticketmaster). The system that Ticketmaster use to sell Wembley tickets for the JPT Final is a completely different system holding our entire supporter ticketing data and having spoken to Ticketmaster in great detail about this issue, the time it will take to merge the two databases is weeks rather than days. So for this reason unfortunately we won’t be able to offer Centenary Society Members priority access for the JPT Final.

We now fully understand the process, time and resource required to merge the Centenary database into our ticketing system – and therefore this work has now begun to ensure that for any future Wembley fixtures (where our sales are managed entirely by Ticketmaster) then Centenary Society Members will be able to claim priority tickets in the same way as Season Pass Holders. In short – should we get to Wembley in May for example, then Centenary Members would get priority access along with Season Pass Holders and there would be no repeat of this issue – you and our Centenary Society Members have our word on that.

It’s something that we’ve worked hard to resolve in the short space of time that we have leading up to the JPT Final on-sale dates – but unfortunately to no avail and all we can do here is apologise to any of our Centenary Society members affected by this system error. Many of our members will also be Season Pass Holders (thus being able to claim priority tickets), but we appreciate that there are still a small minority of supporters put out by this (and rightly so aggrieved by having to wait until General Sale to purchase Wembley Tickets) and we would like to assure them that this issue will not be repeated. The last thing we want to do is upset our members who support the club through this lottery scheme (the majority of them for many years) – so we sincerely apologise in this instance and have worked hard to find a solution to ensure that there is no repeat of the problem.

By way of an apology for any inconvenience caused to our Centenary Society Members, we are happy to offer all Members a 20% discount on any Wembley merchandise purchased in store from the Reds Superstore between now and the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final. To redeem the discount they simply need to show their Centenary Society membership card in the Reds Superstore.

We appreciate that this news will be disappointing but hopefully the affected members will still get behind the team for what should be a fantastic day out at Wembley. Given the number of tickets available to Barnsley supporters (up to 40,000 tickets), we are confident that everyone wishing to attend the game will be able to get a ticket in their desired category.
